Look at that StrutThank God the humble and very professional pilots far out number those who are not, but sooner or later we all see it; the pilot who thinks he/she is so much great than you because they are flying a turbine and you are flying a Robinson; or those who think because they are military trained they are superior and their shit don't stink. This is one of my pet peeves. I hate it when pilots think their shit don't stink. Students sometimes tell me stories of past experiences, and they are apprehensive about training. I hear of this often from students transferring from other schools, incidentally more from females who have had male instructors then vice versa (imagine that). As I have said before, there is no room for this type of behavior especially in flight training. No instructor should 'hit' on a student. Remember professionalism? I m not saying that a relationship cannot exist, I am however saying that the instructor must use extreme discretion. Some pilots just simply must show off, whether or not they really have any actual skills. Take that same macho attitude, put a girl next to him, and now you have a real problem. I have noticed that when a larger group of (student) pilots gets together, there is certainly some that must begin to show off. Notice that I said students (students can mean commercial pilots seeking a CFI); this is because this does not exist near so much in the professional world because most of these types have washed out of the jobs, or at some point in time they figured out that they weren't quite as good as they thought they were, and they changed their habits. Keep in mind that a commercial rating does not make a professional pilot. When an issue such as this arises, confront it head-on, don't let it continue. Put these macho idiots in their places. |
