 Helicopter Flight Information

"What can I do ... once I obtain my pilots license?"

The most common question asked by students, especially once they have soloed. Most students want to know how soon they can begin to earn money to gain back their investment, or to just be able to fly without paying for it themselves. If it was easy there would not be such a demand for pilots. You must build flight time and experience levels for which there is no substitute. I am sorry to those of you who are looking for a short cut, but it won't happen.

To be qualified for employment you must build hours. The easiest way to do that is to become a Flight Instructor. This is the first job available to new pilots and the place where hour building will occur most rapidly. There are some operators who will sell some time building while you fly to and from other commercial jobs they have going on, but they are very few so you must search these operators out.

I have written much information about the costs of training and the best ways to build time and you can find it here. Also there is much information contained elsewhere within this site.

Can you become a pilot?

I am sure you can unless you have medical issues that prevent it. What kind of medical issues can prevent you from becoming a pilot? There are many, so you must talk to an aviation doctor which can be found at the FAA website.

If you have ever taken anti-depressants, you will not be issued a medical without at minimum, an extensive examination. If you do get issued a medical, it will likely be a special restricted medical. You could even be restricted to private flight. I have a friend who was trying to get his medical, but he takes anti-depressants and he finally gave up on getting his medical. We can thank all those psychiatrists who are trying to make names for themselves for these issues. When I was younger it was called 'being a kid', and 'deal with it'. Now it is called PTSD, ADHD, PVSD, SAD, and all sorts of other bullshit. Why should anyone deal with the normal issues of life when some Doctor can get a fat kick-back from a drug company for putting someone on drugs? Don't get me on that soap box.
